Well, it's a bit overcrowded mostly all of time. But very early morning is the best time. High enough fee for every visitor. You could take taxi or tour, but also possible to rent bike or e-scooter and go in your own (most preferable way). Even if you not a Lara, it's easy to spend from 2 to 5 days for to go here and there, make some photos and be happy :)

Unlike any other place that I have visited, this town is surrounded by hundreds of temples, small to gargantum, some on their own, some in large groupings of ten or more, not in tended gardens, but scattered by the road side, deep into fields and brush, but because of the flat landscape, generally easily visible. One temple on its own might not attract that much interest, but the sheer number and variety are astounding. The exteriors may be a little weathered, but generally, the interiors, and their Buddhass, are well kept. If you are travellin north to south in Burma, you should stop in Bagan at least for one day.

The temples offered different style, atmosphere. Make sure you visit the group of small temples as they offered the different stories.
