The road to the Mu Cang Chai fields winding through Khau Pha Pass is often covered with clouds. Coming there, visitors can gain the experience of change by the absolute height of terrain and enjoy the stunning scenery. The geographical position of Mu Cang Chai terraces is unique. Surrounded by mountains and situated in a deep valley, terraced fields here are separated into small ones by the high mountains and small streams. The terraced fields in Ban Luoc commune and Ban Phung commune are very magnificent.  From the bottom of the hill, you will see the layer of terraced fields rise up and then hidden into the blue cloud. Rice terraces are also an invaluable resource for local people, where the Nung, Dao, and La Chi ethnic groups grow wet rice and dry rice paddies and terraces. The end of September and early October is the harvest season in Hoang Su Phi when entire the Phun Village turns into yellow. The residents in Phung Village are mostly La Chi People. Hoang Su Phi fields were awarded the National Heritage title by Vietnamese Government on September 16th, 2012.
